Frequently asked questions
Here are some frequently asked questions to help you understand the henna staining process and aftercare, ensuring you get the best out of your henna experience with Shraddha Henna Designs.
What should I expect the henna stain to look like initially, and how will it change over the first few days?
Initially, the henna stain will appear orange. Over the next 48 hours, it will gradually darken to a rich reddish-brown colour if properly cared for.
What are your top three 'must-do' tips for clients to ensure a long-lasting and vibrant henna stain?
See our detailed Henna Before & After Care Guide:
Before Care:
✨ Clean Skin: Ensure the area is clean, dry, and free from lotion, oil, or makeup. Henna needs direct contact with your skin to stain effectively.
✨ Hair Removal: If you wish to remove hair from the area where henna will be applied, please do so at least 24 hours before your appointment. This allows the skin to calm down and ensures a smoother surface for even staining.
✨ Gentle Exfoliation: Lightly exfoliate the skin a few hours before to remove dead cells and allow the henna to absorb better.
✨ Avoid Products: Do not apply creams or moisturisers before your appointment — clean, natural skin works best.
✨ Relax & Stay Still: Once the paste is applied, allow it to dry naturally. Try to keep the area still so your design remains sharp and smudge-free.
What are the most common mistakes people make when caring for their henna, and how can they avoid them?
The most common mistake is water contact within the first 48 hours of application. Avoid washing the area with water to ensure a deeper, longer-lasting stain.
After Care:
🌙 Keep the Paste On: Leave the henna paste on for 6–8 hours or overnight for a deeper stain.
🌿 Seal the Paste: To help it stay moist longer, gently dab the design with a mix of lemon juice and sugar once it begins to dry.
🔥 Avoid Water: After scraping off the dried paste, avoid washing with water for at least 12–24 hours. Simply brush it off with a dry tissue or towel.
🪔 Moisturise Naturally: Before showering or water exposure, apply coconut or olive oil to protect and enhance your stain.
☀️ Stain Development: Your henna will first appear orange, deepening into a rich reddish-brown over 48 hours.
With proper before and after care, your henna will glow beautifully and last 1–2 weeks, fading gently and naturally.
Can you explain why using natural henna is important for a good result and the health of the client's skin?
Natural henna has therapeutic benefits, including keeping the body cool, and it rarely causes allergic reactions. Unlike store-bought henna cones that may contain chemicals like PPD and preservatives, Shraddha Henna Designs uses completely natural henna with essential oils, lemon juice, and sugar, ensuring it's safe for your skin.

Jagua Before & After Care Guide
Jagua body art creates a beautiful deep blue-black stain that looks just like a real tattoo — naturally and temporarily. To ensure a crisp design and long-lasting result, proper care before and after application is essential.
Before Care:
✨ Clean Skin: Make sure the skin is clean, dry, and free from lotion, oil, or makeup. Jagua gel needs direct contact with the skin to develop its natural stain.
✨ Hair Removal: If you wish to remove hair from the area where jagua will be applied, do so at least 24 hours before your appointment. This ensures the skin is smooth and free from irritation.
✨ Exfoliate Gently: Lightly exfoliate the area a few hours prior to remove dead skin cells for an even stain.
✨ Avoid Products: Do not apply any moisturizer, sunscreen, or body oil before your appointment.
✨ Stay Still: Once the design is applied, avoid moving the area or touching it until it dries completely — jagua can smudge easily while wet.
After Care:
🌙 Drying Time: Allow the jagua gel to stay on your skin for 2–3 hours or until it’s completely dry. Avoid touching or bending the area.
💧 Rinse Gently: Once dried, rinse off the gel gently with lukewarm water only (no soap). Pat dry — do not rub.
🌿 Avoid Water for 12 Hours: Keep the area dry for the next 12 hours after rinsing to allow the stain to develop properly.
☀️ Stain Development: The design will first appear pale and gradually darken to a deep blue-black stain within 24–48 hours.
🪔 Moisturize Naturally: After the stain has developed, you may apply coconut or olive oil to keep the skin hydrated and extend the life of your design.
🚫 Avoid Exfoliation: Scrubbing, swimming, or excessive friction will cause the stain to fade faster.
With proper before and after care, your jagua design will develop beautifully and last up to 10–14 days, fading naturally as your skin renews.
